Tips for selecting machining centers

The first step in selecting equipment is to determine which part to process. According to the needs of technological transformation and production development, enterprises use grouping technology to group and classify these parts, and determine the typical part family of the main processing objects to be prepared. In classification, it is often encountered that there are many differences in the specifications and dimensions of parts, and there are significant differences in the shape of parts. The processing time of various types of parts greatly exceeds the full load working time of the equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to further select typical workpiece families with production programs that are relatively close to the requirements. Typical workpiece families can be divided into diamond (box shaped), plate type, rotary type (disc, sleeve, shaft, flange) and irregular type based on their appearance; According to the requirements of machining accuracy, it can be divided into ordinary level and precision level. The classification of typical parts is very clear, and the basic processing equipment is also quite clear.

The following are reasonable machining techniques for several typical parts:

☆ Axis parts: milling end faces, drilling center holes → CNC lathes (rough machining) → CNC grinding machines (precision machining);

Flange parts: CNC lathe (rough machining) → turning center (precision machining);

☆ Cavity mold parts: Use ordinary machine tools to process shapes and base surfaces → Use CNC milling machines to process surfaces → High speed CNC milling precision machining → Polishing or electrocorrosion surfaces;

☆ Plate: Double axis milling machine or gantry milling machine for processing large flat surfaces → Processing various types of holes on vertical machining centers;

☆ Box parts: Machine the bottom surface on a vertical machining center → Machine the surrounding machining surfaces on a horizontal machining center.

The characteristics and specifications of machine tools include the model, specifications, and parameters of the machine tool, as well as the power of the main motor of the machine tool. Under the premise of determining the content of the process, the selection of models is relatively clear. For example, for the processing of rotating parts, the main equipment options include lathes, turning centers, CNC grinders, etc; The processing of the box should mainly be carried out using vertical or horizontal machining centers.
