Scientific drilling steps to improve drilling accuracy

Generally speaking, drilling refers to a machining method of using a drill bit to process holes on the surface of a product. Generally speaking, when drilling products on a drilling rig, the drill bit should simultaneously complete two actions:

1. Main sports

The rotational motion of a drill bit around an axis (cutting motion).

2. Minor sports

The drill bit moves in a straight line towards the workpiece along the axis direction (feed motion).

During drilling, structural defects in the drill bit can leave marks in the processing area of the product, affecting the machining quality of the workpiece. The machining accuracy is generally below IT10 level, and the surface roughness is about Ra12.5 μ m, which belongs to the category of rough machining.

Drilling operation process

luxuriant

Before drilling, the first thing to understand is the requirements of the drawings. According to the basic drilling standards, use tools to draw the centerline position of the hole. The centerline must be clear and accurate, and the finer the better. After marking, measure with a vernier caliper or steel plate ruler

Draw inspection squares or inspection circles

After passing the marking inspection, a inspection square or inspection circle with the hole centerline as the symmetrical center should be drawn as the inspection line during the trial drilling process, so as to check and correct the drilling direction during the drilling process.

Sample punching

After drawing the corresponding inspection grid or inspection circle, careful sampling and punching should be carried out. Firstly, draw a small dot and measure multiple times in different directions on the centerline of the cross to see if the punch has truly hit the centerline of the cross. Then, apply force to make the sample punch straight, circular, and larger for accurate centering and cutting.

clamp

Clean the machine tool workbench, fixture surface, and workpiece reference surface with a cloth, then clamp the workpiece to ensure it is level, firm, and easy to inspect and measure at any time according to requirements. Pay attention to the clamping method of the workpiece to prevent deformation due to clamping.

Trial drilling

Before formal drilling, a trial drilling must be carried out: align the horizontal edge of the drill bit with the center sample of the hole, drill a shallow hole, and visually inspect whether the direction of the shallow hole is correct. Continuous correction is also required to ensure that the shallow hole is coaxial with the inspection circle. If the violation is minor, the workpiece can be pushed in the opposite direction of the violation with the same force during the drilling process, thereby achieving gradual calibration.

well drilling

Machine drilling generally relies on manual feed operation, and once the accuracy of drilling direction is required, drilling can be carried out. When manually feeding, the feeding force should not cause the drill bit to bend, avoiding the deviation of the hole axis.
